Celebrating 45 years of Printmaking with Pace Prints, New York

Featuring work by Donald Baechler, Jennifer Bartlett, Francesco Clemente, Chuck Close, Jean Dubuffet, Helen Frankenthaler, April Gornik, Mary Heilmann, Sol LeWitt, Ryan McGinness, Paul Morrison, Wangechi Mutu, Louise Nevelson, Kenneth Noland, Claes Oldenburg, James Siena, Kiki Smith, Pat Steir, James Turrell, Fred Wilson.

The exhibition is significant in that the works all come from Pace Prints in New York City, the preeminent gallery and publisher of fine art prints.  Pace Prints has a 45-year history of collaborating with masters and innovators of printmaking, making original works of art accessible to many.

The Print Show: Celebrating 45 years of Printmaking with Pace Prints, New York will showcase the unique art of printmaking and how it has evolved over the last 45 years, including the most renowned contemporary artists from the 1960s to the present -- from the well-known Chuck Close to the more recent cutting-edge Wangechi Mutu.

Printmaking is an art form consisting of the production of images, usually on paper, but also on fabric, parchment, plastic or other material, by various techniques of multiplication, under the direct supervision of or by the artist.  These fine prints are considered original works of art even though they can exist in multiples.  

From traditional woodcut prints to lithography to today's digital printmaking, print makers can use a variety of techniques and methods to create these prints. Techniques showcased in the exhibition include etchings, serigraphs, linocuts, Japanese woodcuts, paper reliefs, archival inkjets, photogravures, silkscreens, and mixed media (etching, aquatint, and photographic relief).

The limited edition prints in the exhibition are all available for sale. The collection of major contemporary artists on display can serve as a fundamental and easy foundation for any contemporary art collector - whether new or seasoned.
