Parts is Parts: Assemblage & Collage and Remnants of Haiti

  • Schelfhaudt Gallery; University of Bridgeport 84 Iranistan Avenue Bridgeport, CT, 06604 United States (map)

Great examples of amalgamation abound with the Schelfhaudt Gallery’s exhibition “Parts is Parts: Assemblage & Collage.” The exhibition consists of artwork by artists whose studio practice is appropriated images and found objects. Lubomir Tomaszewski is a professor at UB who uses rocks and stones as a starting point for his sculptures. Please join us to enjoy common objects in uncommonly beautiful works of art, including sculpture, photo collage, found objects, and kinetic sculpture.

The exhibition “Remnants of Haiti” features the art collection of Douglas Wade, a local Bridgeport businessman who has a fond interest of the Haitian culture. The collection consists of hand-painted metal mythological symbols as well as surrealist landscape and sequenced weavings.

Exhibiting artists: Camille Eskell, Robin Gilmore, D. Dominick Lombardi, Jane Lubin, Suprina, Susan Tabachnick, and Lubomir Tomaszewski.  Curated by Peter Konsterlie.

Admission is free and open to the public. Gallery hours are Monday through Friday, 11:00am-4:00pm, and Saturday, 12:00-4:00pm. Complimentary off-street parking is available.  http://www.bridgeport.edu/event/parts-is-parts-assemblage-collage-and-remnants-of-haiti-opening-reception/
