Site Lines Opening Event
Sunday, May 1, 2016, 2 pm to 5 pm
Free!
See specially commissioned, never-before-seen works by four extraordinary artists—David Brooks, Kim Jones, Peter Liversidge, and Virginia Overton – as they utilize not only The Aldrich’s galleries, but also the Museum’s sculpture garden, outdoor terraces, and various public locations in Ridgefield. Meet and mingle with the exhibiting artists and Museum curators, take an expert-led tour, participate in family art-making activities, and enjoy a gourmet farm-to-museum No. 109 Cheese & Wine lunchbox (available for purchase).
Family Activities
Found Fabrications
Inspired by Virginia Overton’s focus on place and site, build a sculpture using only materials found on site! Choose from materials like scrap paper from the office, empty boxes and paper towel rolls, or leaves and twigs, and design a three dimensional work of art that is truly unique.
Lighted Letters
Create your own letter sign inspired by Peter Liversidge’s installation in front of the Museum’s Administration Building. Using chip board, colorful translucent materials, and markers, draw, cut, and collage a letter that will glow in the window or shine in the sun.
Guided gallery tours of Site lines will be at 3 and 4 pm
