The Loft Artists Association announces a surrealist-inspired group exhibition, “The Exquisite Corpse,” in the galleries at Loft Artists Association, 575 Pacific Street in Stamford from July 23 to August 28.
Reawakening a technique invented in the early 20th century by surrealists Yves Tanguy, Jacques Prévert, André Breton and Marcel Duchamp, participating Loft Artist members will stretch their imaginations and create three pieces in their own style and medium: one head, one torso, and one legs section — choosing figures that might be human, animal, celestial, mythical, vegetable, mechanical, or any combination. “The pieces will then be randomly shuffled and re-combined to create new and unexpected results,” show chair Paul Larson states. “It’s a unique, exciting concept that must be seen to be appreciated!”
There will be an opening reception on Friday, July 22 from 6 to 8 pm.
Regular gallery hours are Saturdays and Sundays from 1:00 to 4:30pm. Admission and parking are free. (A donation is suggested.) Handicapped access is available. For directions and more information visit loftartists.comor call 203-247-2027.
