Deborah Kouzoukian: Deborah Foote Kouzoukian lives in Fairfield in the house where she grew up. Her father first introduced her to Pomegranates when she was very little bringing them home from NYC in his coat pocket. Fast forward. After meeting her future husband Zohrab in Saint Louis, Missouri when both were in college, he told stories of growing up in Iran with his 2 brothers and chasing down the fruit and vegetable vendors with donkeys and their loads of poms. They moved to Iran for 3 years and Deb started a collection of ceramics and pomegranates became an obsession.

A year and a half ago on Now Ruz - Persian New Year - she had a small ball of porcelain from her ceramics class at Silvermine School of Art and decided to hand build a pom. The next day she did the same thing and that started a year of "A Pomegranate a Day for a Year". She is still making poms using many different mediums. Deborah also designs and makes jewelry for her company Loose Pearls LLC, works for Southport Design Ltd, volunteers at the Fairfield Women's Exchange, and has 3 beehives in herapiary "Mulberry Hill Bees" that just had it's first honey harvest!
