The Nature of Earth and Animals: Opening Reception

The public is invited to a reception for The Nature of Earth and Animals, the artwork of members, Elaine Clayton and Alice Katz. They will talk about their work at 3:30 pm. The show runs from March 5 to 31.

Elaine Clayton is a Westport painter exploring spiritual, intuitive themes in both abstract and figurative forms. She is also an author and creator of books in the mind-body-spirit genre with two new books due out in March 2018, “A Little Bit of Angels,” and “A Little Bit of Fairies” (Sterling). She is also the author of Making Marks: Discover the Art of Intuitive Drawing (Simon and Schuster/Beyond Words) and Illuminara Intuitive Journal. She is an author and illustrator of many  books for children, including books by Pulitzer Prize winning Jane Smiley and author of “Wicked” by Gregory Maguire, among others.

On exhibit is her new painting series, Earth Changes: Pole Shift. She says it is “an exploration of our polarized times as we witness great extremes in nature through weather events, earthquakes, tornadoes, hurricanes, etc. and not only in nature, but in human nature.

Alice Katz is a Fairfield psychotherapist, teacher, author, and artist. She has taught classes on art, anger management, and compulsive eating issues and is the author of books on anger and eating.issues.

Alice has been making art her entire life using fabric, paper, paint, and found objects to create papier mache sculptures, wall hangings, paintings, collages, and photomontages. sculptures, all of animals.  She says, " I love and admire animals and I want people to see that even fierce  ones have unique features and are beautiful.  My focus is also on creating a pleasing and interesting  composition with the color, shapes, and texture of each animal."
