About the Artist

Born 1957 in Baltimore Maryland, Will Wilson was introduced to painting by his father Bill Wilson, who painted in oils and watercolor. Wilson attended The Schuler School of Fine Art in Baltimore and graduated from their program in 1979. That same year Wilson met John Pence of The John Pence Gallery in San Francisco and staged his first one-person show in 1981. Their relationship would continue for 38 years until John Pence’s retirement in 2017. Wilson also studied at The New York Academy of Art in its inaugural year, 1989.

Wilson’s work has been exhibited in museums and galleries around the world and is in many prominent public and private art collections, including The Smithsonian Institution’s National Portrait Gallery and National Postal Museum, The Seven Bridges Foundation, The Lucas Museum of Narrative Art, Michael Jackson, Sony, and Time Inc. to name a few.
