Make/Shift Opening Reception: Sunday, August 9, 1 to 3 PM
The Crown Gallery at Metro Arts Studios is proud to present Make/Shift, a national juried exhibit asks artists to explore the space where material, process, and intention converge. Artists are invited to submit work grounded in techniques and materials traditionally associated with functional craft—ceramics, fiber, glass, wood, basketry, and other hand-based practices—reimagined through a fine art lens. This exhibition considers what happens when utility gives way to concept and transformation. Artwork is made using the techniques or the materials traditionally associated with craft. Make/Shift is juried by Rhonda Brown and Tom Grotta, founders of browngrotta arts, which champions sculptural and mixed-media works with an emphasis on concept masterfully supported by technique.
Participating artists: Becca Barolli, Stacy Bogdonoff, Canyon Bowden, Anna Brady, Laurie Carlson Steger & Norma Smayda, Graham Cassano, Jill Herlands, Dong Kyu Kim, KD Meyers, Melissa Newman, George Radwan, Julie Reuben, Kelly Riek, Paulette Rosen, Debbie Smith, and Rebecca Smith
The exhibit runs from August 9 to September 18, 2026. Artist Talk: Saturday, August 22, 1 PM Gallery hours: Thursday through Saturday, 12 to 4 PM and by appointment. www.metroartstudios.org/crowngallery Metro Art Studios, 345 Railroad Avenue, Bridgeport, CT 06604
