Spectrum Visual Rhythms The Intersection of Art & Music Opening Reception

  • Carriage Barn @ Waveny Park 681 South Avenue New Canaan, CT, 06840 United States (map)

Spectrum is a juried exhibition of original, contemporary artwork by local and regional artists, and invites submissions in all media.  All entries must have been created within the past two years and not previously exhibited at the Carriage Barn.

The juror Sam Wilson, a founding director of Klaus von Nichtssagend Gallery, reviewed original works in all media that celebrate and explore the connection between Art & Music.

For centuries, artists and musicians have inspired each other through their creative expression. Significant artistic movements such as Impressionism and Abstract Expressionism evolved out of the visual interpretation of rhythm and sounds. Both art and music share the power to evoke and inspire emotions, tell stories, and communicate ideas.

Works selected for the exhibition will showcase the common elements such as rhythm, harmony, repetition, movement, and expression, and the many ways that musicians or iconic performances influence artists in our contemporary world.
