Heavenly Days in the Palouse Opening Recetpion

  • Greens Farms Congregational Church 71 Hillandale Road Westport, CT, 06880 United States (map)

The collection of images on display for this show were created on a one-week journey through this spectacular landscape known as the Palouse. Located in Southeastern Washington and Northern Idaho, this area consists of a seemingly endless number of sediment mounds formed over millions of years by wind erosion. Once a place where Native Americans lived, then it evolved into grasslands and at the turn of the nineteenth century became tremendously fertile farmland for growing wheat, legumes and canola.

The hills with their tones of greens, browns and yellows, dotted with barns and homesteads, are an almost surreal place of beauty. As the soft evening light settles on the hills a mystical world of color, shadow and shape is created. Whether standing on a butte some thousand feet above or wandering on the gravel roads that traverse this landscape, the beauty of this hidden gem in our great country overwhelms the senses.

I was fortunate to be here to capture some of this serene scenery and invite you to the opening of this exhibit on Friday, March 22nd, from 5:30 to 7:30 at the Greens Farms Congregational Church, 71 Hillandale Road, Westport. The exhibit will run through April 26th
