Two significant new exhibitions will open on January 10 at the Silvermine Galleries:  a solo exhibition by painter and mixed media artist Justin Kim, and Silvermine’s annual New Members Show,including work by 16 new members of the Silvermine Guild of Artists, all elected to the Guild during 2015.  In addition to these two exhibits, the Gallery will show new acquisitions to the Gabor Peterdi International Print Collection

“Painting is consciousness made visible,” said  Kim, who brings a 21st century sensibility to the tradition of landscape painting. Kim was chosen as Best in Show by critic Andrew Russeth in the 2014 Art of the Northeast competition; this solo exhibition is the result of that award.

The new members with work on exhibit this January and February include:  Michael Brennecke (Westport), Leah Caroline (New Haven), Eric Chiang (Westport), Chris Coffin (Fairfield), Sara Conklin (New York City and Washingtonville, N.Y.), Lauren Cotton (Wilton), Rose-Marie Fox (Darien), Elisa Keogh (Norwalk), Michael David Kozlowski (Trumbull), Dan Makara (Redding), Perry Obee (New Haven), Mary Elizabeth Peterson (Westport), Bryan Reedy (New York City), Marlene Siff (Westport), Ian Smith (Ossining, N.Y.), and Lisa Thoren (Darien).
