Peterson Concert: Susan Werner and Vance Gilbert
Susan and Vance are both acclaimed singer/songwriters and recording artists and both have played extremely well-received concerts individually at Greenwich Library in recent years. They are also friends and have performed together often, as they will in this concert. In addition, both are skilled instrumentalists and possess truly exceptional voices. Each will perform a solo set after which, you will be able to witness their remarkable onstage synergy.
The inaugural Peterson Concert at Greenwich Library took place in April of 2000 and featured the great jazz saxophonist, James Moody. Since that time, a partial list of performers appearing in the Series includes: Leo Kottke, Karen Akers, Graham Parker, Maggie and Suzzy Roche, Joey DeFrancesco, Tommy Makem, Vance Gilbert, Patty Larkin, Bennie Wallace, Susan Werner, Greg Brown, Orleans, Huun-Huur-Tu, Stacy Kent, Joe Lovano, Cindy Blackman, Johnny A, Luciana Souza, Monty Alexander and Marshall Crenshaw. These free events were all made possible by Clementine Peterson's generous bequest to Greenwich Library.
"Thanks for your concert series - they are a total delight. The high level of performers is astonishing. Who can believe I walked into the Greenwich Library and heard Lucy Kaplansky perform. And now to learn that Nellie McKay is on the bill. This is not only a generous series but a brilliant one. It's a gift to have top performers being brought into our community for free - thank you!"
