New Canaan Library’s annual Conversations with Business Leaders lecture hosts some of the business world’s most successful, knowledgeable and dynamic individuals. The tradition continues with this year’s guest speaker, Rich Riley, CEO of Shazam. Riley will give his insights and discuss leadership secrets he’s learned growing a business into a global empire while maintaining a company’s focus, culture and even an appreciation for magic. He breaks down how to grow a company without losing its soul.

Rich Riley is the CEO of Shazam, one of the world’s most popular mobile applications.  He joined in 2013 and under his leadership the company has more than doubled its user base. Prior to joining Shazam, Riley spent 13 years at Yahoo! He joined as part of the acquisition of a start-up he co-founded Log-Me-on.com which invented the toolbar.  Riley also serves as an Industry Advisor to the global investment firm, KKR, and serves on the Board of the Entrepreneurial Department at the Wharton School.  He is an active member of the Young President’s Organization (YPO) and has been named 3 times to Billboard’s list of the most powerful people in the music industry and was featured on Fortune Magazine’s 40 Under 40, Ones to Watch list and a finalist for Ernst & Young’s Entrepreneur of the Year award.

This annual lecture presents guest speakers that are highly motivated, dedicated business leaders with a reputation for excellence. They may discuss, based on their experience, ethical decision-making, innovative thinking, and effective practices that achieve positive results. Speakers reside in New Canaan and have been in corporate management as well as specialized areas of business and global initiatives, among others.
